Toyota has introduced the second and third additions to its all-electric lineup with two new SUVs.

Joining the Toyota bZ is the C-HR, a subcompact, four-door crossover. It starts at $48,300 (all prices include MSRP, freight and other fees, and exclude taxes, licence and registration) for the front-wheel-drive SE, which critically makes it eligible for Canada’s new Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) with a $5,000 rebate. The XSE AWD starts at $53,350, while the top-line XSE Premium AWD is priced at $57,800.

NACS ports come standard

The C-HR is equipped with a 77 kWh battery that gives the FWD version a range of up to 496 km. The XSE AWD gets up to 452 km on 18-inch wheels, while the XSE Premium AWD with 20-inch wheels gets up to 438 km. It has an NACS charging port and can be charged from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in around 30 minutes. An 11 kW on-board AC charger takes care of Level 1 and Level 2 charging. The C-HR also comes standard with Plug & Charge capability for an easier charging experience.

Every model comes equipped with a 14-inch infotainment screen, six-speaker audio system, and Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 suite of electronic driver assist technologies. The C-HR offers up to 720 litres of cargo space behind the rear seats, and up to 1,685 L of space with the rear seats folded flat.

All-wheel-drive bZ Woodland

The bZ Woodland is a midsized SUV with a more rugged design, coming standard with all-wheel drive, protective black wheel-well cladding and X-Mode, an added AWD feature that controls the brakes and power delivery to improve traction. Neither of its two trims is eligible for Canada’s EVAP: the base model starts at $63,300, and the Premium and Premium with all-terrain tires are both $68,300.

Standard features include roof rails, a 14-inch infotainment screen, Safety Sense 3.0, heated front and rear seats and a heated steering wheel, among others. It offers up to 2,120 L of cargo space with the second-row seats folded, 215 mm of ground clearance and up to 3,500 lbs of towing capacity.

The C-HR is the Toyota version of Subaru’s Uncharted, while the bZ Woodland is the sibling of the Subaru Trailseeker. Both the C-HR and bZ Woodland will go on sale next month.
