With more than 800 EV charging ports and more than 160 charging stations across the province, BC Hydro has proven itself to be one of the more progressive and prolific EV charging networks in Canada. Now it not only has official recognition, but a handsome trophy to show for it.
The west-coast utility took home the Special Recognition Award at the inaugural ChargeHub Awards, held yesterday at the closing ceremony of the EV & Charging Expo 2026 in Toronto. The awards recognize networks that demonstrate reliability and high EV owner satisfaction throughout the year.
Circuit électric, FLO, Hypercharge and Tesla also received honours as some of the top networks in Canada.

ChargeHub, a roaming infrastructure platform for EV drivers with an app that connects them to chargers across North America, is uniquely positioned as an expert in charging networks. It handles around 95 per cent of all networks in Canada, powering more than 34,000 Level 2 chargers and more than 8,000 DC fast chargers across Canada.
Accepting the awards for BC Hydro was Aida Sarroca, EV leader of the public infrastructure program with the utility.
“It’s a real team effort,” she told Electric Autonomy. “The reason we got this award is through our customer communications. We are very proactive. If there are any sites down, if there are chargers down, we make sure EV drivers know before they get there.”
Since 2023, ChargeHub has analyzed data and user feedback from its platform, culminating in this year’s awards.
“It’s the voice of the average EV charging user,” says Simon Ouellette, CEO of ChargeHub, who was handing out the awards. “The ChargeHub app is agnostic, it’s not associated with a specific network. And there’s a lot of community-driven content in it. Tens of thousands of EV drivers are using it and leaving comments about their charging experiences.”
Other criteria for recognition include a proven record of quality charging sessions, verified through the ChargeHub app; a commitment to improving the charging experience; and a proactive approach to communication with users, beyond the network’s own platform.
“This is not the only gauge, but I think it’s definitely one of the gauges right now for the charging experience across Canada,” says Ouellette. “And the goal is not to just set a fixed bar today, we’re trying to reward those who are going above and beyond in terms of user experience.
“This is to recognize the networks who are moving that bar up.”
